On May 12, 2025, Huawei officially signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with UBTECH. The two sides will carry out innovative cooperation in product technology research and development, scenario application, and industrial systems in the field of embodied intelligence and humanoid robots.

According to the introduction, by leveraging Huawei’s technological innovation capabilities in Ascend, Kunpeng, Huawei Cloud, and large models, as well as Huawei’s experience in research, development, production, and supply, combined with UBTECH’s full-stack humanoid robot technology advantages, the two sides will accelerate the promotion of humanoid robots from laboratory innovation to efficiency improvement and implementation replication in industrial and household scenarios.

Huawei will rely on its full-stack AI infrastructure capabilities to support UBTECH in building an embodied intelligence innovation center, and create a joint demonstration solution of “humanoid robot + smart factory” based on scenarios, and carry out cooperation in the development of household service humanoid robots (including bipedal and wheeled humanoid robots).

In recent times, Huawei has continuously expanded its ecological territory in the field of embodied intelligence. According to Tianyancha App, Qianxun Intelligence (Hangzhou) Technology Co., Ltd. has undergone industrial and commercial changes, and Shenzhen Hubble Technology Investment Partnership (Limited Partnership) under Huawei and others have officially become its new shareholders. Qianxun Intelligence is a developer of embodied intelligence robots, possessing embodied large model technology, robot research and development capabilities, and full-stack AI engineering capabilities.

In addition, in November 2024, Huawei (Shenzhen) Global Embodied Intelligence Industry Innovation Center announced its official operation. At the same time, the center signed strategic cooperation memorandums with 16 enterprises including Leju Robot, Daz 大族机器人,Tuosida, Zhongjian Technology, Chinasoft International, Hechuan Humanoid Robot, and Zhaowei Electromechanical. The center aims to jointly innovate with enterprises, build a high-level innovation platform, provide one-stop product technology trading services, and assist in the gathering and upgrading of the global embodied intelligence industrial chain.

UBTECH Robotics was established in 2012 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at the end of December 2023, officially becoming the “first share of humanoid robots.” According to the financial report, UBTECH achieved a total revenue of 1.305 billion yuan in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 23.7%; R&D investment was 478 million yuan, accounting for 36.6% of revenue; gross profit was 374 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%; and the loss narrowed by 8.3% year-on-year.

At a recent performance briefing, Zhou Jian, the founder, chairman, and CEO of UBTECH, told media such as Shanghai Securities News that the company’s humanoid robot “training” has entered the 2.0 stage, moving from single-machine autonomy to group intelligence; the most important goal in 2025 is to promote the implementation of the overall humanoid robot solution in leading enterprises, and carry out small-scale mass production and delivery.

“After intensive ‘training’ last year, small-scale mass production and delivery will start this year.” Zhou Jian clearly stated that in 2025, UBTECH hopes to make its products better. Currently, it is difficult to integrate humanoid robots with AI. UBTECH is actively promoting the integration of on-site data and simulation environment data to accelerate the rapid deployment of humanoid robots. However, it should be clear that humanoid robots in practical operation cannot rely on remote control or too much human maintenance.

Zhou Jian mentioned that UBTECH plans to produce 1,000 humanoid robots in 2025 (excluding emotional companion humanoid robots), and it is expected to deliver several hundred units, allowing humanoid robots to enter the real scenarios of customers and collect more data. Under the condition that all scenarios are successfully implemented, it is optimistically estimated that UBTECH’s humanoid robot delivery volume will reach several thousand units in 2026.

According to UBTECH’s official introduction, this year, industrial humanoid robots, full-size scientific research and educational humanoid robots Tian Gong Xing Zhe, and simulation humanoid robots will achieve small-scale order delivery. Zhou Jian revealed that UBTECH may launch corresponding humanoid robot products for vocational education or high school education this year.

On April 27, UBTECH introduced that it has recently officially signed a procurement contract for large bipedal humanoid robots with the purchaser. The products involved are mainly industrial humanoid robots Walker S1 and commercial humanoid robots Walker C, and the relevant products will be used in production and manufacturing in automobile factories and commercial reception.
