Recently, Lenovo has first adopted its self-developed 5nm 10-core processor on the YOGA Pad Pro 14.5 Yuanqi Edition tablet, marking that Lenovo’s self-developed chip has officially entered the commercial stage. This chip is most likely the 5nm chip developed by Dingdao Zhixin. Lenovo has overcome numerous technical challenges and finally applied it to actual products.

As the world’s first native AI large tablet, the YOGA Pad Pro 14.5 Yuanqi Edition is equipped with the end-side DeepSeek technology. The self-developed chip it uses is based on the ARM architecture and manufactured using the 5nm process. It is rumored to be fabricated by TSMC. The CPU part of this chip adopts the ARM public version architecture, designed as a four-cluster 10-core structure of 2+2+3+3, with a main frequency as high as 3.29GHz. The GPU part adopts the ARM public version Mali G720 Immortalis GPU.

Although the specific performance of this chip is still unclear, as the world’s largest PC manufacturer, Lenovo’s courage to apply this chip to its own tablet product is sufficient to show that the performance of this chip is excellent and can be comparable to the chips of other manufacturers in the industry. The introduction of Lenovo’s self-developed chip will undoubtedly bring great pressure to chip suppliers such as Qualcomm, considering that Lenovo has mostly used Qualcomm chips on similar tablets in the past.

Lenovo’s breakthrough in the chip field not only demonstrates its strength in technological research and development but also lays the foundation for the research, development, and application of more self-developed chips in the future. With Lenovo’s continuous progress in the field of domestic substitution, its self-developed chips are expected to play a greater role in the domestic market.

In recent years, Lenovo has been very active in the chip field. In particular, its investment fund has invested in many chip-related enterprises, showing its layout and determination in this field. Lenovo has cumulatively invested in more than 200 enterprises, focusing on the industrial Internet driven by the Internet of Things, edge computing, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and chips, laying the foundation for its future IT layout.
