The production and sales in the first four months exceeded 10 million units for the first time, demonstrating the vitality of the automobile industry.

The potential of domestic demand is being released at an accelerated pace, playing a good supporting role. From January to April, the domestic sales of automobiles reached 8.123 million units, with a year-on-year growth of 12%, 1.2 percentage points higher than the growth rate of overall automobile sales.

Exports remained stable in the face of drastic changes in the external environment. From January to April, automobile exports were 1.937 million units, with a year-on-year growth of 6%. Among them, the export of new energy vehicles was 642,000 units, with a year-on-year growth of 52.6%. In April alone, automobile exports were 517,000 units, achieving both month-on-month and year-on-year growth.

New energy vehicles performed actively, with production and sales continuing to grow rapidly. From January to April, the cumulative production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 4.429 million units and 4.3 million units respectively, with year-on-year growth of 48.3% and 46.2% respectively. The sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 42.7% of the total sales of new vehicles.

“Since the beginning of this year, China’s automobile market has seen the continuous release of market vitality under the impetus of multiple factors such as policy drive and technological upgrading,” said Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. A series of policy measures have sent positive signals, which will help further boost the domestic automobile market, deal with negative impacts on exports, and consolidate and expand the stable and positive development trend of the automobile industry.
