On May 8, 2025, Huawei officially held the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecology Communication Conference. Zhu Dongdong, President of the Tablet and PC Product Line of Huawei’s Terminal BG, took the stage to give a speech and announced that Huawei’s terminals are fully entering the HarmonyOS era. This marks the first appearance of Huawei’s HarmonyOS PC operating system interface.

HarmonyOS PC has been in the making for five years, with the efforts of more than 20 research institutes around the world, and has laid out over 2,700 patents. Huawei’s intelligent office is comprehensively upgraded with HarmonyOS office, providing seamless collaboration, intelligent experience, and integrated ecology to reshape the productivity experience.

HarmonyOS PC breaks the hardware barriers, ensuring that the computer is no longer isolated. Through the distributed soft bus of HarmonyOS, functions such as keyboard and mouse sharing, cross-device collaboration, application continuation, and Huawei Share can be realized.

The HarmonyOS PC operating system interface comes with a bottom Dock bar, which supports quick access to applications. The default applications include Settings, Browser, Gallery, Memo, and Huawei AppGallery. In the upper left corner, the default applications are “File Management” and “My Huawei”. In the lower left corner is the “Search” function, and the function options in the lower right corner are similar to those in Windows, including input method, volume, Wi-Fi network, battery power, time, and date.

On the right side of the system, application cards such as weather, upcoming schedules, music, and Huawei Reading can be added.

Notably, the HarmonyOS PC is equipped with the Ark Graphics Engine, bringing a super cool visual effect. Based on human factors, the interaction is prioritized, and the multi-window function remains smooth.

The HarmonyOS PC supports a universal desktop. HarmonyOS cards can be freely selected according to needs, achieving a personalized desktop layout for each user. It also supports HarmonyOS folders, enabling efficient file organization. In terms of physical interaction, it supports operations such as three-finger swipe up and hover for multi-tasking and three-finger swipe up to clear the screen on the touchpad. In terms of intelligent interaction, the system-level AI assistant Xiaoyi is built-in, capable of handling multiple tasks with a simple voice command. In addition to the dedicated Xiaoyi smart key, you can also “right-click and ask Xiaoyi”.

The system supports document dragging, enabling functions such as document summarization, Q&A, translation, and picture information extraction. The desktop supports dynamic wallpapers, with the “Universal Planet” and multiple themes to choose from.

In terms of bandwidth transmission, the cross-device file transfer rate can reach up to 160MB/s, which is the fastest in the industry. In terms of peripherals, the HarmonyOS PC already supports connection to more than 1,000 external devices, including more than 800 standard peripherals and more than 250 non-standard peripherals.

In terms of ecology, HarmonyOS PC applications cover multiple vertical fields, meeting basic office and core scenarios, and application development is accelerating continuously.
