On the afternoon of May 7, the Information Office of the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality held a press conference for the 2025 World Robot Conference and the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games.

Chen Ying, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the China Institute of Electronics, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the headquarters, attended the press conference and introduced the preparation progress and relevant information of the 2025 World Robot Conference.

The 2025 World Robot Conference will be held at the Beiren Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (Beijing Yizhuang) from August 8 to 12. Hosted by the China Institute of Electronics and the World Robot Cooperation Organization, the conference includes the opening ceremony, closing ceremony, forums, and related supporting activities. The World Robot Expo and the World Robot Competition will be held concurrently.

Secretary General Chen Ying stated that the China Institute of Electronics held the first World Robot Conference in 2015, and this year marks the 10th session. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his congratulatory letter to the 2015 World Robot Conference that “With the continuous integration of informatization and industrialization, the intelligent industry represented by robot technology is booming and has become an important symbol of scientific and technological innovation in the current era.” “We are willing to strengthen cooperation with the scientific and technological and industrial communities of various countries, promote the research, development, and industrialization process of robot technology, and make robot technology and its products better serve development and benefit the people.” This has pointed out the direction for China to accelerate the development of new quality productive forces and provided a fundamental basis for hosting the World Robot Conference with high quality. Over the past ten years, the number of international institutions supporting the conference has increased from 12 at the first session to 26. The number of international guests has increased from more than ten to 74, and the number of exhibiting enterprises has grown from less than 100 at the first session to 169. There are more than 200,000 on-site spectators per session, and the online attention reaches 250 million person-times. The World Robot Cooperation Organization and the Chinese Humanoid Robot Hundred-Person Association have been established. Premier Li of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee emphasized during his inspection of the 2024 World Robot Expo that it is necessary to thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on the robot industry, deeply grasp the future trends and major opportunities of robot development, vigorously promote the scientific and technological innovation and industrial development of robots, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, create new momentum and advantages for development, and continuously improve people’s livelihood. This has injected strong confidence and motivation into continuously hosting the World Robot Conference with high quality.

Secretary General Chen Ying introduced that the forum themes of the 2025 World Robot Conference are set to be more in line with the development trend of robots, and the display of achievements in humanoid robots and robot application scenarios will be richer. As of now, 20 international institutions, including the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, the International Foundation for Robotics Research, and the European Robotics Association, have agreed to serve as supporting institutions for the conference. Foreign guests such as Kathleen A. Kramer, President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Seng Chuan Tan, President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, and Toshio Fukuda, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the 2020 IEEE President, have confirmed their participation. With the continuous advancement of the conference preparation work, it is expected that nearly 500 domestic and foreign guest speakers will participate in the conference.

The expo will showcase the latest scientific and technological achievements and promote the innovation and application implementation of technologies. The exhibition area will exceed 50,000 square meters for the first time, and the display content will focus on humanoid robots, the expansion of robot application scenarios, breakthroughs in key technologies, frontier technological innovation, and the debut of new products. As of now, nearly 100 domestic and foreign enterprises, including Festo, SMC, and the National and Local Co-built Embodied Intelligence Innovation Center, have confirmed their participation. It is expected that the number of exhibitors will exceed 200, bringing together nearly 50 well-known humanoid robot manufacturers, and more than 100 new products will be unveiled during the conference.

The competition will include the Cooperative Robot Challenge, the BCI Brain-Controlled Robot Competition, and the Youth Robot Design Competition. Additionally, the “2025 World Robot Conference Brain-Controlled Robot Record Challenge Activity” will be held, the “Top Ten Innovation Achievements of the 2025 World Robot Competition” will be released, and the “Training and Certification Work for Referees of the World Robot Competition” will be launched.

The supporting activities will pay more attention to accurately matching services with the industry, and activities related to international cooperation, scenario applications, government-enterprise cooperation, production-demand matching, industry-education integration, investment, financing, listing, and financial services, as well as talent services will be planned. In addition, the conference will release more than 10 achievements, including the “Global Robot Partners Initiative”, the “2025 Report on the Development of China’s Humanoid Robot Industry”, the “Top Ten Scenario Demands for Humanoid Robots in 2025”, and the “Advanced Robotics and Automation Papers 2025”, as well as the “New Product Debuts at the 2025 World Robot Conference”.

In January this year, Beijing announced that it will host the World Humanoid Robot “Conference and Competition”. Among them, the “Competition” – the world’s first humanoid robot marathon was successfully held in Beijing Yizhuang in April. The “Conference” refers to the World Humanoid Robot Games.

Jiang Guangzhi, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, announced that the World Humanoid Robot Games, the world’s first comprehensive competitive event organized for humanoid robots, will be held from August 15 to 17 this year at the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) and the National Speed Skating Oval (Ice Ribbon). It is jointly hosted by the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, China Media Group, the World Robot Cooperation Organization, and the International Council of the Asia-Pacific Robot Cup. The competition events are divided into main events and peripheral events. The main events focus on the skills competition of humanoid robots, including track and field, football, dance, as well as material handling, drug sorting, etc.; the peripheral events focus on fun and audience interaction, including badminton, table tennis, basketball, etc. Today marks the 100-day countdown to the opening of the games, and we invite robot enterprises, innovation teams, scientific research institutions, universities, robot clubs, and robot enthusiasts from around the world to actively sign up for the competition.

Wang Lei, a member of the Working Committee of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area and Deputy Director of the Management Committee, said that as the main position for the development of high-end and cutting-edge industries in Beijing and the permanent hosting place of the World Robot Conference, Beijing Yizhuang’s connection with robots has been integrated into its development context. There are more than 300 robot and embodied intelligence ecological enterprises in the area, such as Yaskawa Shougang and Zhitong Precision. A “1+6” industrial system has been created, covering core components, humanoid robots, industrial robots, special robots, medical robots, collaborative robots, and logistics robots. The scale of the robot industry chain exceeds 10 billion yuan, accounting for 50% of the city’s total, making it an important robot industry cluster in Beijing. In the field of embodied intelligence, Yizhuang has taken the lead in laying out innovation platforms represented by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center. Leading enterprises in the industry, such as Xiaomi Robot and UBTECH, core component enterprises like Qingneng Dechuang and Lingzu Shidai, and other enterprises have settled in Yizhuang, basically forming an embodied intelligence industry chain system covering core components, complete machines, and application scenarios.

Relying on rich industrial innovation resources, Yizhuang has built a technology innovation system led by leading enterprises. It gives full play to the ecological organization ability of the robot innovation center, leads the research and development of core technologies of embodied intelligence robots, and promotes open source and open innovation. It achieved the first full-size humanoid robot to complete a half-marathon and win the championship globally, and released the world’s first general embodied intelligence platform “Huisi Kaiwu” with the features of “one brain with multiple functions” and “one brain controlling multiple machines”. A number of well-functioning industrial innovation platforms have been arranged. The only future industry cultivation base for humanoid robots in Beijing has been established, the first flexible and agile manufacturing platform for robots in Beijing has been built, the first humanoid robot inspection and evaluation center in Beijing has been laid out, and a benchmark robot incubator has been created, forming a full-chain innovation and incubation mode of “achievement transformation + pilot-scale development + incubation acceleration + inspection and testing + application demonstration”. An innovation ecosystem with concentrated elements has been established. The Beijing Robot Industrial Park (Yizhuang) with an area of 250,000 square meters has been arranged, a robot industry fund of 10 billion yuan has been supported to land, the first hierarchical evaluation standard for humanoid robots based on comprehensive task execution ability in China has been released, the world’s first humanoid robot marathon event has been successfully held, and robots have been promoted to empower key fields first, initially forming a robot innovation ecosystem with full-element support, full-chain layout, and panoramic empowerment.

The World Robot Conference that “never ends” is being continuously created. The Beiren Yichuang Convention and Exhibition Center has been optimized and upgraded, an international exchange center of more than 200,000 square meters has been built, the exhibition area has been increased by nearly 20,000 square meters, and the conference area exceeds 5,000 square meters. Supporting facilities such as hotels and catering have been further improved, comprehensively enhancing the service guarantee capabilities of the conference. The Robot World, the first full-category robot scenario display center in the industry, has been upgraded in quality. It regularly displays the representative achievements of the World Robot Conference over the past ten years, continuously enhancing the influence of the conference. At the same time, a robot science popularization and education experience area has been created, a robot restaurant and a robot hotel have been built, and a series of activities for the first robot consumption season have been organized.

Currently, the robot industry is at a critical period of leapfrog development. We will fully open up the scenario resources of Yizhuang, provide enterprises with opportunities to start businesses and pursue careers with precise policies, efficient services, and a complete ecosystem, and jointly create a vibrant, innovation-led demonstration new city for the embodied intelligence robot industry with all parties.
