China’s New Visa-Free Transit Policy for Foreign Tourists (2025 Edition)

China has implemented an expansion of its visa-free transit policy, increasing the visa-free stay duration for citizens from 54 countries to 240 hours (10 days). This new policy allows transit through 60 open ports across 24 provinces, with 21 additional ports added. Visa-free travelers can now explore entire provinces, with some city-specific limitations. The initiative aims to enhance cross-border travel and promote international cooperation, thereby fostering economic growth. Foreigners must meet certain conditions, including valid travel documents and onward travel arrangements. This policy signifies China’s intent to welcome more international visitors and facilitate easier entry.
